Digipack Progress...

This is my Digipack so far. However, now there are going to be changes to the music video and we will be getting rid of the band shots and using someone else to be the lead singer. So the front cover image and the image of the band destroying their instruments will have to be removed and changed. I think I will use more images from the powder paint fight.

This is my Digipack with a new image from the powder paint fight and so now all I need to do is get an image of the new lead singer and the rest of his band.

Journal 27/01/12

Today we went over the feedback from viewing our music video to the rest of the class and we also discussed it with our teacher. The conclusion that we all came to was to re-film many parts of the music video and remove the band shots and people that weren't in the powder paint fight and also the dance/party shots. We now need to film someone who would be the lead singer of the band, someone who would be just like Jarvis Cocker in Pulp's music video for common people as the whole band isn't in it. That person would be shown almost throughout the video to show they are the main and most important character. Also, we need to use the people from the powder paint fight throughout the video to show a lead up to the fight.

This is all we have left after removing the shots that do not work. We are planning what we need to film for next week so that we can meet the deadline.

Feedback from our music video so far...

Everyone said that our music video "Definitely has potential"

Elements that work are:
  • Paint fight
  • The paint fight was really effective
  • The powder fight
  • Reversing the shot of blowing powder paint
  • Powder fight worked very well
  • Love the slow motion shots and reverse shot of the powder fight
  • Powder paint fight
  • The reverse shot
  • Beginning and ending with Arron.

Things that need developing are:
  • Lip synching
  • Some shots are too long - especially performance
  • Tie it together with more consistency
  • Lip synching at the start
  • Lip synching
  • Lips out of synch
  • Gap needs to be filled
  • beginning needs to be tighter.

Additional feedback included cutting the song down as it seemed too long.

Overall, our best part of the music video is the powder paint fight but we really need to work on the lip synching at the beginning and may need to re-film some parts.

Progress... Of editing

We only have a small amount of the music video to film for so we are happy with our progress. During our feedback it was suggested that we should cut our song down a bit which we are happy to do as it will help us out. Emily made a really good split screen for the powder paint fight which everyone was impressed with.

Images from the Powder Paint Fight...

I thought that the Powder Paint Fight went really well as we got loads of footage and it looks really good with the song.

We may film it again as we have a lot of paint left over and extra footage would help us. We have used most of these images in the music video to go along with the beat.

Progress... 13/01/12

We will be filming at a party on Saturday night (14/01/12) getting people to sing lyrics of the song, drinking and dancing. This will reflect the band's ideology as they love drinking, parties and hanging out with their friends. We want this to be edited as split screens and with effects so that our whole music video isn't just made up of cuts as it could get boring and we feel we need variety. Our last day of filming will be tuesday, which is when we will film the powder paint fight, unless we end up having to re-film. We have checked the weather and it is supposed to just be cloudy and sunny on tuesday. We are going to have to be very quick on tuesday because it still gets dark early so we're only going to have about an hour to get it done.

We have edited and filmed over half of the song and this is how it looks so far on Final Cut Pro:

Finished Poster

I think I've included all the codes and conventions that should be on a poster promoting a Digipack. I wanted to make it humorous because that is what the band is like and that is what the music video is going to be like. I chose a different font to that of the Digipack title because I wanted to show some variety and make them seem more interesting.

Journal 04/01/12

Unfortunately over the Christmas Holidays both me and Emily were too busy to get any extra filming done. However, I still feel that we are on track and will be able to get it all finished and edited in time for the deadline, as we are already editing it and realise that we have half of the song finished and most of the other half will be of the powder paint fight that we need to film.
